Edward Charles Morice Fox, OBE (born 13 April 1937) is an English stage, film and television actor.

He played the assassin in the film The Day of the Jackal (1973). He also portrayed King Edward VIII in the serial Edward & Mrs. Simpson (1978).

Biography

Fox has been married twice, to actresses Tracy Reed (1958–1961) and Joanna David (from July 2004, after a long-standing relationship). He has a daughter, Lucy, Viscountess Gormanston, by Reed, and two children, actress Emilia Fox and Freddie Fox, with David.

He is the brother and uncle, respectively, of actors James Fox and Laurence Fox.

Fox joined the Countryside March to support hunting rights in the UK, He also supported the restoration of the Royal Hall, Harrogate, funded by his great-grandfather Samson Fox.

The plot centers on a charismatic radio talk show host, Tom Avery (Bruce Greenwood), and his "mermaid researcher" girlfriend Fay (Emilia Fox). In the year 2058, Earth will soon be uninhabitable due to irreversible effects of pollution. The United Global Space Force prepares the first launch for the colonization of a distant planet much like our own. The story is based on the myth of King Arthur. The usurper is eventually killed by his brother Thagnar, who also captures Ilene. In a final confrontation, the villains are killed and Valiant rescues the princess and recovers Excalibur.

The film begins when a miller, who is poaching deer on lands belonging to the King of England, is detected by a hunting party led by the evil knight Sir Miles Folcanet (Jürgen Prochnow). The miller flees the hunting party until he runs into a Saxon earl, Robert Hode (Patrick Bergin), and his friend, Will.
