Biography
Ferruccio Amendola est le fils des acteurs, Federico Amendola et Amelia Ricci et le neveu du réalisateur et scénariste Mario Amendola,. Il commence sa carrière au cinéma avec le film Gian Burrasca et parallèlement mène une carrière en tant que doubleur de voix d'acteurs essentiellement à partir de 1968.Ferruccio Amendola était marié à l'actrice et doubleuse Rita Savagnone, il a un fils Claudio, qui est aussi acteur. Il est mort à Rome le 3 septembre 2001 des suites d'une « longue maladie ».

Oreste Jacovacci from Rome and Giovanni Busacca from Milan meet each other during the call to arms at the start of World War I. Although completely different in character, they are united in their lack of idealism and their desire to avoid any danger and get out of the war unscathed. They and a varied group of civilians and fellow soldiers (including the prostitute Costantina, played by Silvana Mangano) go through many ups and downs during their training, battles and rare moments of leave. They are considered "inefficient" due to their limited military valour and so are made message-runners to the staff, a very dangerous job. Having succeeded in their mission, a sudden change in which side hold which trench leaves them in enemy territory, where they are captured by the Austrians wearing Austrian uniforms they had found in a barn.

In ancient Egypt, Pharaoh Khufu (Jack Hawkins) is obsessed with preparing his tomb for the "second life". Dissatisfied with his own architects' offerings, he enlists Vashtar (James Robertson Justice), an ingenious man whose devices nearly saved his own people from being conquered and enslaved by Khufu. Khufu offers to free Vashtar's people if he will build Khufu a robber-proof tomb - although Vashtar will have to die when the pyramid-tomb is completed, to guard its secrets. During the years that the pyramid is being built, Pharaoh demands tribute and labor from all his territories, amassing gold and treasures to be interred with him.
