It is about three suburban 11-year-old boys who find themselves behind in "the battle of the sexes," believing they would regain the upper hand if they could just see a real, live naked lady.
The film was shot in various locations in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as well as in the Ohio cities of Cincinnati and Lebanon. The story is set in a fictitious
Ohio suburb named "Middletown", outside of an unnamed city (for which Pittsburgh was used). The screenplay was sold to Paramount Pictures by John Mattson in 1992 for $1.1 million, then a record for a romantic comedy spec script. The film was originally set up with Joe Dante to direct and his frequent partner Michael Finnell to produce, but the duo left the project over disputes regarding the budget and their fees.
Synopsis
Three boys — Brad, Frank and Kevin — go from their bedroom suburb of Middletown to the city, bringing money with hopes of seeing a naked woman. They find a bemused hooker named "V" willing to show her breasts for that amount. However, when the boys go to head home, their bikes have been stolen. They're broke and stuck in the city.Actors

The film is narrated by Charlotte Flax, a 15-year-old girl living in Oklahoma with her glamorous but eccentric mother, Rachel (whom she calls "Mrs. Flax"), and 9-year-old sister, Kate, who calls her by her given name. The narration begins in early fall 1963, just as Rachel's latest fling with her married employer ends and she decides to relocate once again. This time, they move to a new home near a convent in the small town of Eastport, Massachusetts. Charlotte has an obsession with Catholicism and idolizes the nuns living in the convent. She is always reminded by Rachel that they are Jewish. Kate, on the other hand, loves oceans and swimming. She apparently learned to do so when she was a baby, allowing her to win many competitions.
