It stars Ryan Gosling, Emily Mortimer, Paul Schneider, Kelli Garner and Patricia Clarkson. The film follows Lars (Gosling), a sweet yet quirky, socially inept young man, who develops a romantic yet platonic relationship with an anatomically correct sex doll, a "RealDoll" named Bianca, and the story of how his older brother (Schneider), his brother's wife (Mortimer), and the rest of the small town grow to accept and welcome Bianca into the community for Lars's sake, not realizing that she would touch all of their lives in such a profound way.
Despite not earning back its initial budget in theatrical release, Lars and the Real Girl was critically acclaimed. It earned an Academy Award nomination for "Best Writing (Original Screenplay)", while Gosling received a Golden Globe Award nomination for "Best Actor in a Motion Picture Comedy" and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for "Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role".
Synopsis
Lars Lindstrom (Gosling) lives in the converted garage behind the house he and his brother Gus (Schneider) inherited from their late father. Karin (Mortimer) is Lars's pregnant sister-in-law. Her persistent attempts to lure him into the house for a family meal are usually rebuffed, and on the rare occasions he accepts, their conversation is stilted and he seems eager to leave as soon as he can. The young man avoids social contact, finding it difficult to interact with or relate to his family, co-workers or fellow parishioners in the church he regularly attends. Margo (Garner), Lars' co-worker, is clearly interested in him, but Lars avoids anything more than brief encounters with her.Actors

Six years after the events of the previous film, Glen, the kind and gentle son of Chucky and Tiffany, has a nightmare in which he murders a little girl's parents. In reality, he is living a life of embarrassment and abuse as a ventriloquist's dummy from his own point of view. Desperate to know his parents, Glen tracks Chucky and Tiffany down to Hollywood, where they are first shown killing a man who is dressed as Santa Claus for a movie. Upon tracking down his mom and dad, who are now dummies in one of Jennifer Tilly's films, Glen uses a voodoo amulet to bring them back to life. When Chucky (voice of Brad Dourif) finds out that Glen is his child, he faints, while Tiffany is ecstatic and hugs her child. Tiffany and Chucky argue over whether Glen is male or female, due to his lack of genitals (though he is clearly a male). In 1869, two brothers bury a mysterious chest from which the sound of drumbeats can be heard. A century later, 12-year-old Alan Parrish escapes from a group of bullies to a shoe factory owned by his father, Samuel Parrish. Mastro Geppetto is a poor carpenter with no wife and no children. The man sis institution very lonely, and when trading a piece of wood with his colleague Mastro Cherry, he decides to build a puppet that faces him company. The puppet is Pinocchio. On night comes the Fairy in the carpenter's shop to visit Pinocchio. The woman makes a deal with the puppet: if he behaves well, giving honor to the father, he will become a human being, otherwise he will remain a piece of wood. Pinocchio promises, and magically becomes a kid. But the temptations of life are many, and Pinocchio runs away from home, not going to school, like his father Geppetto wants, and he enters illegally in the company of puppets of the cruel Mangiafoco. Pinocchio, helped by the Fairy, tries to be kind and respectful, but by his brat character, he always brings himself in the midst of trouble.

A magical log falls off a wagon and rolls through an Italian town causing considerable damage and some injuries. It comes to rest in front of the house of Geppetto, a poor wood carver who carves a puppet named Pinocchio from it. To Geppetto's surprise, the puppet comes to life and to his dismay, it becomes very mischievous. Geppetto sells his only coat to provide schoolbooks for Pinocchio. Along this journey the boy establishes warm relationships with the man and refuses to stay with his father any longer. The message behind the story is that love matters more than money.
