Ulrich ”Ueli” Steiger (born 5 August 1954 in Zurich, Switzerland) is a Swiss cinematographer.
He studied English and art history at the University of Zurich and entered the London Film School. After freelancing as Camera assistant and Documentary Filmmaker in Switzerland, he directed his first feature film "Privileged" in 1981 with Director Michael Hoffman as Camera operator. With the camera in Hoffman's Promised Land.
Then, Steiger moved to Los Angeles and worked with director Roland Emmerich on films such as Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow, and 10,000 BC.
He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers since 2000.

Roger (Christopher Walken) is a security guard at an art museum who is only rarely in motion, opting rather to stare at his favorite painting, The Lonely Maiden, a beautiful woman staring forlornly out into the distance. Despite the fact he has a wife, Rose (Marcia Gay Harden), he's become rather obsessed with the painting. Rose wants Roger to retire so they can move to Florida. One afternoon, Roger learns that several pieces including The Lonely Maiden are to be permanently moved to another museum in Copenhagen, Denmark. In the timeframe of 10,000 BC, a tribe of hunter-gatherers called the Yagahl live in a remote mountain range in the Urals and survive by killing woolly mammoths, which they call "mannaks". The camp is led by a hunter who has proven his bravery by killing a Mammoth, and taking the White Spear. The people also strongly venerate an elderly woman, called Old Mother. Because of her different appearance to other humans in the village, it is assumed she is a Neanderthal, the "last of her kind", living with the Homo sapiens of the camp.

Jamal Walker (Martin Lawrence) is an everyday slacker with a job at a crummy theme park called Medieval World, which is about to receive big competition from another theme park, Castle World. While cleaning a moat surrounding the park, he finds a medallion in the moat and when he tries to retrieve it he gets sucked into the past.
