Making fuck-off est un film documentaire de Fred Poulet sur le tournage du film Mammuth.

Synopsis

Gustave Kervern et Benoît Delépine ayant aimé l'esthétique de Substitute, ils ont demandé à Fred Poulet de réaliser le making of de leur film. Il s'agissait d'en garder une trace s'il ne se faisait pas, avec pour exemple Lost in La Mancha, revenant sur le tournage d'un film maudit de Terry Gilliam, L'Homme qui tua Don Quichotte (The Man Who Killed Don Quixote).

Halloween actor Donald Pleasence and Dressed to Kill star Nancy Allen provide the commentary on topics such as "sex and terror" (Dressed to Kill, Klute, Ms. 45, The Seduction, When a Stranger Calls), loathsome villains (Dracula, Frankenstein, Friday the 13 1 and/or 2, Halloween I and II, Marathon Man, Nighthawks, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Touch of Evil, Vice Squad, Wait Until Dark, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?), "natural terror" (Alligator, The Birds, Frogs, Jaws 1 and 2, Nightwing) and the occult (An American Werewolf in London, Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, The Omen, Carrie, The Shining). In one segment of the anthology, legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock presents his concepts of how to create suspense in a clip from Alfred Hitchcock: Men Who Made The Movies.

Pendant l'été 2000 en Espagne, Fulton et Pepe suivent, pour en réaliser le making of, le tournage de ce qui aurait dû être The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, un film que projette de réaliser Terry Gilliam depuis plusieurs années. Jean Rochefort doit tenir le rôle de Don Quichotte. Johnny Depp et Vanessa Paradis font également partie de la distribution. Cependant, le tournage tourne vite à la catastrophe : problèmes d'organisation, conflits personnels, vols intempestifs de F16 de l'armée de l'air américaine basée en Espagne sur le site de tournage, pluie diluvienne dans un lieu désertique qui dégrade le matériel et altère le décor – le désert servant de lieu de tournage devenant verdoyant le lendemain du déluge –, maladie de Jean Rochefort qui empêchera celui-ci de jamais remonter à cheval et l'écarte des plateaux.
